Local Dallas Teacher Assistant Keshawn Covile Receives Refurbished Vehicle to Help Her Get to School and Take Care of Her Family

On Wednesday, February 27, Keshawn Covile, a local teacher from the Dallas area, experienced a life-changing event – the presentation of a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe to replace her totaled car – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides™ program, CARSTAR SheerMetal and Liberty Mutual Insurance.

NABC Recycled Rides™ is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the Recycled Rides™ program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 2,000 vehicles valued at more than $36 million.

Ms. Coville, who attended the event with her family members, was amazed by the generosity of the team at CARSTAR SheerMetal and Liberty Mutual.  As a teacher assistant at Faith Family Academy and girls’ basketball coach, Covile has a busy schedule juggling her work and her active family.  When her car was totaled in an accident, Covile wasn’t able to cover the cost of a new vehicle.  Her story was featured on the CBS show “Face the Truth” and CARSTAR was contacted to help get her back on the road.  Then, the NABC Recycled Rides™ program stepped in to assist with the project.

“Oh my gosh. It’s beautiful. My children are going to love this,” Covile said. “I really want to say thank you guys so very much. You are truly a blessing to me and my children.  I was really working hard to get my kids to school and get to work without a vehicle. Thank you to the people who donated the car, to the people who fixed it and painted it and everything.”

The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe was donated by Liberty Mutual Insurance, and the entire staff at CARSTAR SheerMetal spent time repairing the vehicle. Partners who donated materials and support included All Star Auto Lights, 3M, Discount Auto & Tire Shop, English Color, Huffines Hyundai Plano, 1-800-Radiator, Hilton Arlington, Jason’s Deli, Sam’s Club, Walmart and Bryan Grayson Photography.

“Most of us take transportation for granted, but without a vehicle it can be challenging to work and take care of your family,” said Grant MacQuilkin, owner of CARSTAR SheerMetal. “We’ve been blessed and our purpose is to give back these blessings to others. That’s part of CARSTAR. We don’t just fix cars, we take care of people. It’s an honor to be able to participate in such a worthwhile project and help Keshawn and her family get back on the road! Many thanks to all of our partners who made this project possible.”
