NEWINGTON, CT (November 14, 2016) – On Veterans Day, Pete’s CARSTAR of South Windsor and Progressive® Insurance donated a 2014 Kia Sorrento to local veteran Jorge Rodriquez, U.S. Navy (Ret.), as part of the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) trademarked Recycled Rides® program. The donation is part of Progressive’s one-day, countrywide event called Keys to ProgressSM.

Rodriquez, who served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years as a medical corpsman to the Marines and Navy. Rodriquez, called “Doc” by his crew, did tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq and survived three separate IED explosions. The vehicle will give Rodriquez, who is married with two daughters, independence to continue to live his life to the fullest.

Recycled Rides® is a nationwide community service project whereby members of NABC repair and donate recycled vehicles to families and service organizations in need in their own communities. Recycled Rides recruits collision repairers, insurers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and others, to contribute in their own, yet synergistic ways. CARSTAR stores have participated in the program since it began and this year it expects a dozen deliveries by CARSTAR locations.
