Raising Distracted Driving Awareness for Upcoming Winter Road Conditions
The Kansas city area CARSTAR stores joined in the National Auto Body Council and AT&T’s It Can Wait program, to help raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving, especially for young adults. The team brought a real world situation to life by transforming an actual vehicle involved in a texting and driving collision into a mobile reminder. The vehicle on display was from a young teen who was texting his girlfriend and accidentally drove through a curve in the road and collided with a tree. Thankfully, the teen was safe; however, the damaged vehicle is a staggering reminder. The NABC cites survey results showing 97% of teens say texting while driving is dangerous — yet alarmingly 43% admit to doing so. Teens are not the only guilty parties – the AT&T study also reveals nearly half of commuters (49%) admitted to texting while driving —a higher rate than reported by teens.
