Our History
Founder, Lirel Holt had been a shop owner and an expert in collision management for the 3M
company when he founded CARSTAR in 1989. He had shared his knowledge with thousands of
shop owners and managers as director of the much heralded ARMS workshops. There he
developed a belief that a network of quality collision repair facilities across North
America would be a benefit for consumers and welcomed by the insurance industry.
Lirel used his knowledge and contacts and dedicated his efforts to building the CARSTAR
franchise system. He was the first to apply customer satisfaction, financial measurements
and ongoing improvements and consistency on a large scale.
"Our first steps were simply to find honest shops who really wanted to improve." For his efforts both at CARSTAR and within the industry he has been recognized as an Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the year, Lifetime Chairman Emeritus for ICAR, the leading technical organization and Chairman Emeritus of CCAR, the U.S. EPA's compliance assistance center. Most notably he was chosen as one of the "Collision Industry's Top Twenty Five Most Influential Leaders of the 20th Century." He is the third inductee into the prestigious automotive industries collision Hall of Fame, the Eagles Club. "Work hard, be honest and provide value" was a mantra he shared with all that remains today. |
