Metro St. Louis CARSTAR Group Donates $35,000 to Ranken Technical College
Recognizing the importance of quality training in the auto body repair field, the Metro St. Louis CARSTAR Group has formed a partnership with Ranken Technical College, donating $35,000 to the school’s automotive collision repair program.
The majority of CARSTAR’s donation will be allocated to stocking and furnishing an auto collision repair classroom. The new CARSTAR classroom will be equipped with smartboards and other essential 21st century learning tools, enhancing the traditional learning aspects of the program.
Two local CARSTAR stores are owned by Ranken graduates, and many shops employ Ranken interns. “Ranken has the best auto body repair program in the area,” Woodson said. “We look forward to bringing more Ranken interns, apprentices and graduates into the CARSTAR family.”

Gapsch CARSTAR, located in South St. Louis County, was recently recognized by the Gateway chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The award was presented at the Heroes for Heroes Law Enforcement Recognition Banquet on November 8th, 2007 in St. Louis. The event, entitled 'Salute Our Superheroes', featured acknowledgement of area law enforcement officers and area businesses that made significant contributions to reduce the number of impaired drivers in St. Louis roadways.
Gapsch CARSTAR, located at 4709 Green Park Road, has supported the MADD organization for over eight years and received the 2007 'Heroes for Heroes' awared for their support of local school assembly programs that deliver the 'don't drink and drive' message to over 2,500 young adults a year. 'Eliminating drunk driving takes a commitment from everyone in the community', said Katie Heineman, executive director of MADD Gateway. 'We are grateful for Gapsch CARSTAR's commitment to this effort and we encourage others to look at them as an example of a business that is dedicated to making our community a safer place for everyone.'

Press Release - September 2006 - 'Gapsch CARSTAR recognized for anti-alcohol, drug abuse program.
Gapsch CARSTAR has recently been recognized by the national Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse - St. Louis Area (NCADA) for its work in the local St. Louis community promoting safe teenage driving.
The NCADA presented Gapsch CARSTAR with an award at its 2006 Missouri Youth Leadership Conference in appreciation for 28 multi-media assembly programs sponsored in part by the local business. These programs were funded to assist in the prevention of underage drinking, especially during homecoming and prom season.
Gapsch CARSTAR, owned by Ed Gapsch and located at 4709 Green Park Rd., in South County, worked with the St. Louis area MADD Gateway Affiliate to fund the multi-media and video program produced by MADD National. The two organizations then presented the program to local teens.
'It's very gratifying when businesses put their leadership and money where their mouths are', said Ginny Shaller, NCADA Conference Coordinator. 'Gapsch CARSTAR'S partnership with the MADD Gateway Chapter and their funding of the excellent video program produced by MADD National builds upon the efforts of NCADA's high school TREND Chapters to develop student leadership, provide accurate information about the risks of drinking and driving, and offer safe alternatives to parties where alcohol and other drugs are consumed.'
Gapsch CARSTAR plans on continuing the program in 2007.'
