Over 100 first responders from Wichita Fire, Sedgwick County, Butler County, Newton and Andover attended F.R.E.E. training hosted by the two Wichita CARSTAR locations.

The community service event was held on three consecutive nights at Collision Specialists East CARSTAR and Collision Specialists West CARSTAR in Wichita, Kansas.  The firefighters attended a classroom period learning about airbag restraint systems, hybrid/alternative fuel vehicles and the new high strength steels.

Then the first responders had hands on “cutting” training on the where, when and why to cut in numerous accident scenarios.

Two of the Wichita television stations covered the event on their news as well.  Salvage cars were donated by Farmers Insurance, Farm Bureau Insurance, American Family Insurance and State Farm Insurance.  The sponsors were recognized in front of the first responders and received “Thank You” certificates.

Hybrid vehicles were loaned by Scolfield Auto Plaza and Eddy’s Toyota.

Towing provided by Arrow Wrecker Service, Insurance Auto Auctions and Total Resource Auctions.

These Wichita CARSTAR shops are owned by Greg Petersen, Bob Keith and Tim Jensen.
