OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (May 6, 2011) – Panama City, Fla., resident Velda Lynn Savage saw her dreams come true on Friday morning when she picked up the grand prize in the CARSTAR Hertz Shelby Mustang sweepstakes – a limited edition 2007 Hertz Shelby GT-H Mustang.
For Savage, who works at the Funland Arcade, the car is an answer to her prayers. She didn’t own a car when she registered for the contest, and she and her husband were facing some financial challenges. Now, they will be traveling in style, and reliving the days when they once owned a classic 1974 Mustang.

“Thank you so much CARSTAR for the opportunity to own a piece of Mustang history,” said Savage. “I was elated to find out I was the grand prize winner and thrilled to take home the Hertz Shelby Mustang.”
Savage almost missed her opportunity. She was notified by email that she had won, and then accidentally deleted the email with some others. After a frantic search through her deleted files, she found the winning notification and secured her prize.
National automotive expert Bobby Likis, host of the Bobby Likis Car Clinic network radio show, and Bill Garoutte, AVP, Senior Marketing Executive of CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts, were on hand with Hertz representatives, including Southeast Region Vice President, Robert O’Day, at the Panama City Hertz office to present the Hertz Shelby GT-H Mustang to Savage.
